The City is kicking off the Place Project with the aim of supporting vibrant city centres that are brimming with life and that are a destination in their own right, where people want to spend time! And the City wants to hear from you about what sort of places you want your city centres to be!

To help establish what a great place is and to discover how they might be achieved the City has arranged a series of free placemaking workshops for Community Members, Business Owners, City Councillors and Staff. Participants will learn about placemaking, what is possible and have the opportunity to discuss ideas and participate in discovering a way forward.

The workshops will be led by Len Kosova, former CEO City of Vincent and David Snyder, Town Team Movement, both will bring their wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to facilitate engaging, high quality workshops that will:

  • Introduce the fundamentals of placemaking and the process of creating successful community spaces that are really enjoyed
  • Feature real examples and learnings from these
  • Explore community perceptions, sentiment and aspirations
  • Explore how the City and the community can work together to turn ideas into action

The City wants to hear from you at the workshops! What are your concerns and aspirations for our city centres? What are our unique qualities and strengths? What might work locally to enliven our city centres? How can public places be created that promote people’s health, happiness and well-being?
