New Visitor Servicing Model For Augusta

Yesterday, the MRBTA launched a new approach to marketing and visitor servicing for Augusta at a community and business update held at the Augusta Hotel.

The new visitor servicing strategy will see the current Augusta Visitor Centre close on Wednesday, 20 February and operation funds reallocated into meaningful marketing opportunities that will drive visitation and increase length of stay in Augusta.

As part of this strategy, the Augusta main street welcomes two new Visitor Information Hubs at the Newsagency and Deckchair Café. The Information Hubs feature a self-service touchscreen display connected to the live chat with MRBTA’s online Reservations Team, maps, magazines, brochures and a promotional TV screen. The Information Hubs will also be rolled out at the Margaret River Visitor Centre, Jewel Cave and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.

MRBTA also unveiled other new marketing initiatives developed in consultation with the Augusta Marketing Reference Group (AMRG) which was formed last September and is made up of representatives from MRBTA, the Augusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), local businesses and community members. These initiatives include:

  • A new Augusta map focused on illustrating the character of the town along with the diversity of experiences on offer. View the map here.
  • Augusta Ambassador collateral distributed to local businesses to provide an avenue for them to share their local knowledge with visitors.
  • new promotional video which highlights the distinct personality of Augusta.

Alongside these new initiatives, the MRBTA’s other visitor centres, destination website, app and centralised Reservations Team will continue to play a key role in educating visitors about the experiences available in Augusta. The AMRG will continue to meet regularly to discuss new marketing initiatives for Augusta.

The new strategy is good news for all MRBTA members as it enables us to work more effectively and efficiently in attracting and dispersing visitors throughout the whole region. The work around the Augusta promotional video has also paved the way for new videos promoting Busselton, Yallingup/Dunsborough and Margaret River, which we will be excited to share with you next month.
